My design principles include integrating regional suitable ornamentals and edibles, creating practical turf areas, improving and maintaining soils organically, recommending efficient irrigation and appropriate mulches.
Initial Meeting
I meet with the homeowners to determine their goals. I listen carefully to hear key words and ask many questions to fully understand the scope of the project.
We discuss:
- The use of the space
- The setting to be created
- How to accentuate beautiful views and hide unwanted ones
- How many people regularly use the garden
- Color preferences and plant preferences
- Structures to be added or removed
- Pathways
- Water Features
- Fire Elements
- BBQ and entertaining areas
Design With Planting Plan & Plant List
Once I am hired for the job I offer the following services:
- Walk the property to determine the scope of the project
- Take notes, measurements and photos
- Present a Planting Plan and a Plant and Materials list
- Recommend a soil test and necessary irrigation adjustments
- Discuss budget of time and money
Options:
- Homeowner executes the Plan
- I mentor the homeowner and/or their landscape service to execute the Plan
- I recommend licensed and insured contractors to fulfill the Plan
- I visit the property during construction to monitor progress
